Classes

I have had if not mounds of homework, mounds of studying. I took my second Chem exam today and I also had a math test (easy, but still). Even more, I have a huge research paper due sometime in the not so distant future that I haven't gotten so far on.  Personal Finance is getting harder and on top of that I need to figure out classes for next semester and try to do NaNoWriMo this year. I don't how I am going to do it, but good bye social life and hello school. I will try to still blog because, even though it is a great procrastinating tool, blogging is also very useful for future reference and posterity.

Chemistry --
Gen Chem is the bane of my existence and yet I am planning on majoring in Chemistry.  The concepts are not confusing in themselves, but I honestly wish that we had mounds of homework. Homework is a wonderful tool in a hard class. It is very annoying in an easy class; however I wish Chemistry had homework besides labs and prelabs.  I am left to doing practice in the book, but usually I don't have time to do them until right before the test. I am still not so hot at time management.  Now I just read chapter five and it really doesn't make much sense, but we are moving on to chapter six on Friday.  I am trying, but hey: do or do not there is not try. Yoda is right, but doing is so much harder than trying. poop.

Math --
College algebra (MATH 150) is my math course this semester, and right now it is super easy.  So far it has been one long review of Algebra 1 which was pretty easy too.  I am kind of glad for the review though because it is nice to go over systems and play with fun numbers before I go into Calculus next year. I'm taking precalc next semester.  The math test today wasn't too hard, but it did take a while just because I was checking my answers and making sure that I got everything right.  Bonus! There was extra credit, and I am pretty sure that I got it right. Major yay.

More Chem --
As I was writing about math I realized that I left out the crazy stuff that was on the chem test.  Okay so right now in chem our teacher is expecting us to know and understand and remember everything from the reading. I have never before had a day of Chemistry in my life so I have almost no idea what all of theses things are or what I should or shouldn't remember.  There was this one thing on the test that was mentioned in the chapter, but not in class which is not cool because everyone, including him, promised that the tests would be on material that we went over in class. However I took the test today, the second day, so I had the hindsight of Brittan who took it yesterday to study and learn how to find the concentration of ions in solution. I did that so I am pretty confident that I either got a high B or an A-. I'm hoping high A, but I am pretty sure that I did not do that well. Hopefully though everyone will do badly and he will curve it.

I really don't understand that though: curving the test grade. What is all that about? I know that it can raise your score, but how does it do that? To google.........

Just kidding. I'm way to lazy to open a new tab and look stuff up. I have homework to do. I do not need more things to procrastinate with.

However, before I go a quick word about PEGlish and Personal Finance.

ENG 101 (PEGlish) --
We have a 10-12 page research paper and I'm not sure when it is due, but I have a lot of work to do. Haha due/do. Hehehe

Personal Finance --
The very first day of BUAD 260 our TA renamed the class Life 101. How right she was. I am learning so much in this class, but we are transitoning very much from a show up and learn class to a show up learn, do homework, and know the information class. I am kind of scared, but right now I have a 101% so I should be able to keep and A, unless I fail something. *knock on wood*

Well,I actually have a short paper for MBC 101 to write and NaNoWriMo to do.

Wish me luck,

Birthday Weekend

So last weekend was the weekend of my birthday. I'm 15 now! I can get a permit, and drive and other cool stuff. I also got tons of presents. So I'm in college and it is hard to ship big things so I just got a lot of money. I now have one hundred dollars at Walmart thanks my aunt and my great-grandma.  I have gotten so many presents, and I keep forgetting to say thank you. I got an adorable necklace and notepad from my other aunt and uncle.  Still more I got an Old Navy gift card from my other aunt and uncle, and a huge package from my other aunt and uncle. I got twenty bucks from my other great-grandma and I got a minifridge and tons of presents from my grandparents.  Oo! and I got a cool computer board thing from Mom and Dad.  Also at midnight on my birthday all of my friends here showered me and Brittan with gifts.  It was overwhelmingly fun.  I got a reversible teddy bear puppet, a nerf gun, astronaut ice cream, and tons of other random things. So I would just like to say a late thank you to all of my present givers. Supposedly I have even more in the mail. Yay! Thank you family and friends. I had a wonderful birthday with my grandparents (Apples to Apples and Chinese food FTW), and I had an amazing birthday weekend with my grandparents and friends.

Thanks again all,

I HAVE A FRIDGE!!!!!!!!!!! YAYA!!!!!!

Homework Extensions

Okay so today in English class we were talking about our papers that were due at 5PM today. Then everyone was complaining about it being due at five and them having stuff to do during the day. Yadda, yadda, yadda one thing led to another and now the essay isn't due until midnight tonight. I already turned it in, but that is beside the point.

After that in Personal Finance we had stuff that was due on Monday, but she changed it so it wasn't due until a week from today. It is freaking easy stuff and I am already mostly done. I feel so productive. Now all I have to do is figure out oxidation states in Chemistry. Yay!

Humph. Oh well I get to Skype with my daddy and I actually had class today. Also I am turning fifteen on Saturday. I'm so happy. Today is a good day.

Also I have super secret plans for Brittan's birthday. Yes, I know it is mine, but that does not mean that can I skimp out on her celebrations. I mean seriously guys I'm not that selfish.  I'll tell you all about them Saturday afternoon.

And I get to see my grandparents for my birthday! They are bringing me a minifridge which is really good because the second floor fridge just decided to break quite recently. Now I have to walk downstairs to use a fridge and get someone to unlock the kitchen for me.  Oh well. I get my own fridge this weekend.

I just realized that I say oh well a lot. When I say it I do not mean "oh well" in the usual sense of the word.  I am not giving up. I'm just using it as a transition of sorts. I am saying "oh well, I have talked about that enough or I'll figure it out later or something." Just to clarify because it seems kind of like I give up every other sentence.

Parental Teachings

I have recently realized why I am so awesome. Wait hold up. I am not being stuck up and conceited. I am in college at fourteen I get a least a little awesome credit for that. However most of me being here is because of my parents.  Ever since I can remember my parents have been teaching me random science things. I have always excelled in classes because I usually already knew what we were doing. Now, however, I have no background in college chemistry because I never took high school chemistry. Facebook and Twitter people, do not say "oh but you are getting a 95 blah-di-blah-di-blah" I know that I am doing good, but I feel like I won't do so good next time. I worked really hard to get that good grade and that's what I am talking about having to work hard.  But working hard in itself is beside the point. The point of this blog is to talk about the awesomeness of my parents.

Parental teachings come in handy with math and science when you have a science oriented family; however they also come in handy with friendships. My mom learned from her mom how to be caring and helpful to everyone and that has really helped me make friends and keep friends. I can be prickly sometimes, but helping others out when they need it helps them see past the prickliness.  I think that all of the good examples of help I received from my mother and grandmother have helped me stay a people person even though I sometimes have trouble with the whole people liking me thing.

Another good parent lesson I have gotten is to never give up and always ask for help. My parents have always been open to me and I have felt like I could go talk to them about anything. Also they have never given up. Mom is going to grad school with four kids and a husband who until very recently was unemployed.  Dad has been dealing with unemployment and being turned down.  Both of them have not given up and because of that good example I know that I will be able to keep going.

Thanks guys. I love you.

Kings Dominion

Okay so on Saturday six of us went to King's Dominion an amusement park nearby. It was super fun.  Also it is super small. I walked all over the park at least three times.  We got there around noon and we left around ten. That's ten hours of amusement park fun and it was awesome.  I rode the Dominator, the Berserker, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, the Volcano, Shockwave, and the Intimidator.  It was awesome! Also, I went into a scary corn maze and walked through "Scare zones" I ran around screaming and I rode a roller coaster standing up.  It was super fun.

Debate time,

Love,
Alora

P.S. Sorry no pics my phone was in Brittan's bag most of the time.

Fall Break

So today is the last day of classes before Fall Break and I am super excited.  Fall break is this weekend: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  But get this, because labs are cancelled because we have Monday off, I don't have class until Wednesday because the only class I have on Tuesday is my chem lab.  Lab cancelling FTW.  I'm kind of sad too though because most people are going home for Fall break, but I am not. At least my roommate is staying too so I won't be alone, but I'm pretty sure that the rest of the second floor is leaving so it will be just us. Hopefully I will get a lot done during this period of me not having classes. I doubt it though. I am going to Kings Dominion on Saturday which will be fun, but it will probably also ruin my ability to study for the rest of the weekend.  Oh Well.

Happy Fall Break MBC,

Once Upon A Time: Best Show Ever

Oh My God.... This most recent episode of Once Upon a Time (Lady of the Lake) was so awesome. There are parallel times in the Enchanted Forest and Storybrook, and there are flashbacks.  Also, Emma is finally in fairytale land and Henry and Charming are totally bonding.  I love this show.  I religiously watch it on Hulu. One of the reasons I love it is that it makes me cry, and most of the time I do not cry. I cried at least three times during this episode.  Not because it was sad though, because it was happy.  This show is not only awesome, but it endorses good family values, and good relationships.  Snow and Charming, and then Emma as parents put their children first and that is just so so amazing that it makes me really miss my parents (cry one).  Also Snow and Charming have one of the best relationships I have ever seen on TV. It is not perfect, but it is just close enough to be perfect.  They will always find each other and it is just so much fun to watch people who love each other work through every hardship to be together.  There is no dumb cheating to ruin their relationship because they truly love each other and that is very refreshing.  Many movies/shows that I have seen recently have had so much cheating or discord in relationships that it really makes me wonder what is wrong with the writers. However this show is so much better than that. It takes most of the more well-known Grimm Fairytales and throws them all into one world: the Enchanted Forest. The characters have so much depth and a time goes on you just keep learning more and more about each person.  Also this show is kind of hard to predict.  Sometimes it is predictable, but when it counts you will have no idea what to expect. Especially this episode. I was dumbfounded. So much background and all of these turns that it took some I wanted it to take and others completely unpredictable.  I love this show....I think I may go watch this episode again or I could watch all of the first season over and over again because it is on Netflix. Woot! Woot!

I gotta go guys,

Love,
Alora

Midterms

I am officially half way through my first semester of college and right now I have A's (I think) in all of my classes.  None of my classes have official midterms, but they have all picked up the pace.  I have some much homework that I shouldn't blog for the next month and a half.  Paper due on Wendnesday, Personal Finance research also due on Wednesday, Chem lab is just a perpetual black cloud above me, and of course we have a full blown math test coming up soon.  So it's time to study, study, study. I think I am doing pretty well, but honestly it is freaking hard to study. I swear it's not that studying is really boring (I mean it is) it's just so hard.  I had no idea that studying was so hard. I understand what everyone has been complaining about all these years.  I gotta go I'm headed off to bed, but I should get eight hours of sleep tonight which is a major plus.

Good night my peoples,

Alora

Washington DC Trip

Okay so yesterday I went to Washington DC and had tons of fun.  The PEG group that went toured the National Museum of Women in the Arts which was pretty cool. There were lots of paintings and sculptures, but there was also a rock-and-roll exhibit where they had Lady Gaga's meat dress. Sadly they didn't allow pictures so I don't have a picture, but it was pretty cool. It doesn't even look like meat anymore.  So the Women in the Arts museum had this huge foyerish area where the building had once been a movie theater and it was really pretty.
This is the foyer place in the Women in the Arts museum
Before the tour Brittan and I had gone to the DC Zara store to buy stuff with our little sister's name on it. However for some odd reason nothing had the brand name plastered on the front, but I got some pictures.
This is the store logo by the escalator
Brittan on the escalator
After our shopping of sorts and the tour we went back to the national mall and explored the Natural History Museum and I seriously want to live there. We wanted to see other things so I only got to see part of it, but oh my god was it cool.  When we were looking at the dinosaurs I felt so small, and the moon rocks and asteroids were just totally awesome.
sorry that it's a bad picture.
After the Natural History Museum we went into Air and Space which is huge. I didn't even see a quarter of it and we were in there for over an hour.  I bought astronaut ice cream in the gift shop and a cool poster and a key chain. BTW I collect key chains from places that I have been so since I've been a lot of places, I have a lot of key chains.
My cool cockpit poster

After Air and Space we met up with Madi and Jeni to check out the National Art Gallery.  It was pretty cool, but not as awesome as we thought it would be. (Yes we were looking for things from Battle of the Smithsonian.) Finally Brittan and I meandered over to the Memorials.  We saw the World War Two Memorial, the Washington Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.

Me with the monument

Dinner was from a street vendor and then we drove home.  DC was pretty awesome and I am glad that we went, but I missed so much. I felt so connected there.  Everything was so full of history.

(I will insert a video here later of all of the stuff we did)

Since then I have done loads of homework and I have pissed off my roommate.  At least I got some chem studying in.

The exhaustion is setting in. I may crash soon.

Just Keep Working, Just Keep Working

I did homework ALL DAY yesterday and I still am not done. I had to go to class this morning so I just finished my paper that DISAPPEARED last night. I was so sad that I started crying.  I went to bed pretty early last night, but today I am refreshed and ready to go.  Although I still have tons of work to do homework and other wise.  The rough draft of my English paper is due on Monday. I haven't even started my lab yet and there is Pigasus on Tuesday. Pigasus is the PEG dorm equivalent of clean your room or else.  We have a freaking room inspection. I mean my room isn't a total mess, but I still live here. Fall break is next weekend and I'm going to Kings Dominion which should be super fun. This weekend I am going to Washington D.C. and I can't wait. I'm going to see all the museums. (Yes, I know that this is not possible in one day, but I can still hope can't I.)

Ok well blogging break over I'm going back into the land of homework.  If I don't make it back tell my family I love them.

I'll miss you, *tear* *sniffles*

Sleep Skyping

So apparently my little siblings don't have school today so I was skyping them earlier.  We were having a jolly old chat. The first ten minutes they were watching Ninjago, and then we talked for a little while while they played games.  I was tired so I laid my head down on my desk and I fell asleep. They didn't even notice. I was asleep until Madi came back from class and woke me up. They didn't even notice I was asleep they just kept on talking. Then when Madi came in they realized that I had been asleep. I had no idea what they had just said.  It was insane because it was one of those times where you are so tired that you don't realize that you fell asleep until you wake up.  That's how tired I am. I think I'm going to go to bed early tonight because I am exhausted. I have been doing homework all day which probably isn't helping, but I got about nine hours of sleep last night so I should be fine. Oh well, I'll just sleep in this weekend.

I need to go study.  Just a quick post for now. Bye,

Love,
Alora

P.S. I'm still really tired, but I don't have time to take a nap.

Random Rambling About Random College Student Revelations

So I have classified my days as either good or bad for forever, but in reality the entire day depends on what happened right before my classification.  If I was a happy and bubbly before someone asked me how my day was then my day would be good and so on.  I realized that I do this a few years ago and I have just ignored it.  Recently, however, I have started to notice a great many differences between myself and the people around me.  That really isn't one of them, but it is something that I have noticed frequently lately, especially today.

I have always been tall. Maybe not the tallest, but still quite tall.  Since I started school, I have noticed just how tall I am compared to everyone else. I look down on almost everyone and it is just because I am taller than them.  Ciara is the only exception. She is about six foot and super skinny, so whenever I stand next to her I always feel very short.  And she talks so intelligently that I automatically begin to use huge words again. When I was in fifth grade I used huge words all of the time, but hardly anyone understood me so I dropped out of the habit. However, I have a feeling that I should get back in the habit of it.  She makes feel like I have a horrible vocabulary and I am super short. She's cool though.  Her hair is really cute too.  It's short and blond and it totally matches her style.

I also randomly realize that I am four years younger than most of the people that I am in a room with at any given time.  It is quite annoying to do that in the middle of class because everyone has a different light about them.  Later though I realize that this "18 +" year old that I have been hanging out with is an at large (out of the dorm) PEG or an ECA (Early College Academy) student and that is really weird.  The other day I learned the last name of my fencing club captain.  Then I realized that I had seen her name in all of these places all over the PEG office. It was really weird because before that I had had no idea that she was only 17.  Then I learned that she too got a full ride through the Malone Scholarship Program.  She is pretty boss.

Ugh. I have homework to do. Gotta go,

See you on the flip side of the coin,

Love,
Alora

Learning to Study

I have never had to study a day in my life and now I need to be doing it all the time.  I have mandatory study hours on school nights, but it just isn't enough for my homework load.  I am slowly learning how to study because today I set up specific hours that I will study for my classes.  For example from now on every Monday, Wednesday, and I Friday I will study Chemistry between the hours of four and five.  I set up a  number of study hours for everyone of my classes that correspond to the number of credit hours the classes are.  Another example, Chem is 4 credit hours so I have made myself four mandatory chem study hours.  If I don't get all of my work done within the time frame I have the rest of the day to study and my mandatory PEG study hours. (I scheduled all of my class study times outside of my other study hours.) Hopefully, I will now be able to have a 4.0 GPA. Although it's not there right now I don't think. It is very close.  Well I wish all of you other smart people struggling with learning to study the best of luck. Just remember, if you don't try you won't succeed. So go, and open your textbooks.  No more blog reading procrastination for you.

Gotta go,

Love,
Alora

Boring Old Tuesday

So well today was kinda boring with some fun bits. Either that or it was awesome and I'm just bored now.  I worked this morning which was fun because I get paid to do that.  Then I went to lunch and ate some fake mashed potatoes that looked and felt like mashed potatoes, but they tasted literally like water. It was gross. Mostly what I had for lunch was the trail mix that they had for dessert.  After lunch I went to chem lab which was fun and boring at the same time.  After lab I came back to the dorm for a few hours and did homework then dinner and then more homework until now.  However that was the boring overview. Now I will fill in the interesting parts.

In chem lab we reacted sodium with water and it was awesome.  My lab professor Jenny had a glass oven tray type thing that she filled with water and some phenaltheylin.  Then she pulled the sodium out of the kerosene and showed it to us.  It was all dull except for where she had recently cut some off. There it was all shiny.  Then she cut (she cut it with a freaking knife! A metal! How cool is that?) a chunk of sodium off and dropped it in the water and shut the hood. (Forget to mention. The tray of water was in the hood and the hood was on.)  Okay well we did it twice and the first time it freaking exploded! E-X-P-L-O-D-E-D!!!!!!!!!!! I was right next to it with Rachel, my DM is in my chem lab, so it was super duper loud.  And yet it was the coolest thing that I have seen all week. hehehehe. The second time we did it the sodium only fizzled.

So after chem lab I was hanging in Brittan's room and she was decorating for Halloween. Her door is now covered top to bottom in black spider webbing. It looks pretty boss. So aside from messing with the webbing to annoy her, I also taped Madi up with Chinese caution tape. It was hilarious. She could barely walk and when she tried to get out she totally cheated and used her hands.  I took a video of her escaping, but I can't put it on the internet because Brittan, Chanelle, and Hannah think that it could be considered hazing and they don't want to get in trouble. After that Madi didn't want it online either. I kind of got mad at all of them and left after that, but I'm better now.

I think that was the last really interesting thing that I did today. I mean I did some homework and I'm reading a book that I'm going to evaluate for English. It's called Things We Couldn't Say. It's written by Diet Eman. It is about her resistance group in the Netherlands during World War Two. It is also a beautiful love story between her and her fiance Hein.

Random side note: I drew Brittan's (River) and Madi's (Lyrica) D&D characters
I know that Lyrica has no face. Madi is going to add it. Also, River is a rough draft.
Well I have to get up early tomorrow, so see ya,

Love,
Alora

I am back. (in a deep Arnold Schwarzenegger voice)

Sorry for the blog break.  This past weekend was parents weekend and I was super busy. My family, including my two dogs and my little brother and sister, drove the entire nine hour drive up from Nashville twice in the course of the past three days.  They left on Friday after school and they drove the entire night.  When they got here the next morning we hung out together until the evening, and then they left and drove back home.  They are insane.  They also caused me to get injured for the first time since I got here. I ripped skin out from underneath my toenail with a door, a freaking door.

Warning there is a picture of it directly following this sentence. Oops glitch. oh well. my apologies to the squeamish ones. hehehehe.  Yeah it really hurt so I couldn't march in the parade that day and I have to wear socks all the time until it heals, so my band-aids don't fall off.  Yup, it's gross I know.

Well class time y'all,

Love,
Alora

College Sickness (I'm not sick BTW)

Getting sick in college just seems like the worst thing that could happen to you. You can't go to classes if you're sick enough and even if you aren't how do you focus when you feel horrible or you are constantly blowing your nose.  Luckily I haven't gotten sick, yet. *knock on wood* However, people around me have. Ciara was sick about a week ago with a fluish ear infection thing, but she looked horrible when she came to class.  Then there is this other girl Cassie who went to the ER yesterday, but she got some meds so she should be getting better.  I have Emergen-C which is a vitamin c drink mix and is supposed to help with the whole not getting sick thing. Well, I have my fingers crossed, but it's almost winter and I have the reputation of the girl always blowing her nose. So fingers crossed.

*waving good bye with crossed fingers*

Presidential Debate Recap

Last night I promised to make a video, but I haven't done that yet and I may not. However, I am writing my blog post. I did not watch the whole debate, but I watched enough to know that we are screwed if we elect either of those men. I mean really people listen to their words and realize that they don't make sense or they really don't know what they are talking about.  During the debate, one of them would say something that we should do, like cut spending. However Romey's plan to cut spending is to shut down PBS. I don't know about you guys, but I kind of like PBS.

Twitter is now in an uproar over the debate. Last night during the debate there was a new tweet every 30 seconds or so and most of them were about the debate.  It was funny to look at people calling out the mistakes and then others completely ignoring them.

That debate was pretty similar to past presidential debates that I have watched.  The two candidates ran in circles saying, "I'm the best. I'm the best. You're the worst. You're the worst."  They were like kindergartners fighting over a toy.

Please listen to your candidates guys. Pay attention to their faults and their promises.  In the future try to get some background on your candidates before you vote two not so great people into the candidacy and then one of them into the presidency.

Thanks guys,

Love,
Alora

The First Presidential Debate

Okay so for most of my life my dad has had the kids watch the presidential debates and then respond to them. He usually makes a video. Well, since I'm away from home I figured that I would watch tonight's debate and make my own video, but I cannot get the live streaming to work. So tomorrow after the debate I will watch it do a belated blog post response and a youtube video.

I had marching band today which was pretty fun, but for now I'm going to do my English paper Hopefully I will get an A on this one.

Well wish me luck, (by Friday at 5 PM if at all possible)

Love,
Alora

What day is it?

It has felt like Tuesday all freaking day. I mean I know that its Wednesday, but I've only had two days of classes so it feels like it should be Tuesday. I keep half forgetting what classes I have next. Oh well tomorrow is Thursday and then it Friday and then I get to see my family!!!!! I can't wait!!!! I miss my family tons and tons. Also tomorrow I get to work in the PEG office and I think that I'll be putting up Halloween decorations.

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all time because it is four days after my birthday. I'm turning fifteen. I'll be able to legally drive with an adult in the car once I get my permit which probably won't be until Christmas.  That is the next time that I am going home. I do miss my house some, but not as much as I just miss the chaos of six people and two dogs in one house. It is very quite here.

I also have tons of homework. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! Not really, but tomorrow is my do homework day because I only have one class. That is a major yay!!!!!!!!! I have to go. I really need to pee and I'm hungry. So bathroom and then dinner my friends.

Bye. *hand wave*

Apple Day Carnival

Apple Day is officially one of my favorite holidays of all time. This morning we went gleaning and this afternoon we had a carnival. The carnival was freaking awesome!!!!

The carnival was from 2 to 5 and I was there the whole time. From two to three I helped run the fencing club booth and after that I wandered around spending money. I was super fun. There was free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. It was awesome. Also there was a free mechanical bull and free blow up jousting. I rode the bull twice. I also won an apple pin and some candy. I bought some cookies and a breast cancer awareness keychain that I put on my backpack. Heath also came home with me. He is my new pet octopus and he is so adorable.

Speaking of adorableness, Madi has been fan girling over this VWIL chick. Her name is Katy and she is a beautiful she-male. She looks like a gorgeous boy from behind. Well, today while Madi was riding the bull she locked eyes with Katy and then fell off the bull. Sadly, I wasn't there to see it. I did hear about it though. Then later Madi looked all over Hunt for her and finally found her as we were leaving. Along with her other two targets, the "cute" guys who work in the kitchen. Madi is adorable.

Parents weekend is this weekend and I'm so excited. I get to see my family and my dogs and I'm so happy. I can't wait!!!!!

I have to go guys. Serious roommate talking to do.

Love,
Alora

Apple Gleaning

Well, my super secret secret is out.  My fun activity this morning was apple gleaning. Gleaning is different from picking because we are getting the still good apples off of the ground and bagging them so they can be donated. As we speak the apples are heading to DC to be handed out to the hungry along the streets. We got about 350 bags of apples and each one had about as many apples as a small bag of supermarket apples. I am very proud of us. Although we apparently collected more last year. It wasn't cold and rainy last year and I the owner said that there were more apples to collect last year too. Oh well, I am still very proud of us and I had tons of fun.

I got up at 6:30 and the buses left around 7:35. I slept almost the whole way there which was nice because I was exhausted   We got there and headed out into the fields around 9:15 and we wrapped it up and headed back at roughly 10:20.  The entire time it was cloudy and for most of it it was also raining. However, lots of us were there and even the president of the college Pamela Fox was there gleaning. I slept on the bus ride back too and now I am fully refreshed.

We got back around noon and ate the awesomely yummy lunch at the dining hall while all gross and muddy from the gleaning. Now I must get ready to go help run the fencing booth at the carnival. Apple Day is the best. It's like Christmas in October.

Have fun,

Love,
Alora

Aftermath of Apple Eve

I have survived the Apple Eve dodge ball games, and they were freaking boss. The first game was us, freshies against the juniors, and guess what? We beat them, and we beat them good. I didn't get out once that whole game. The next game I didn't play in because it was sophomores versus seniors and no surpirse here the seniors won.

Physch!

The sophomores actually won and then after that they pummeled us too. It was quite sad. However we did make it into the finals, and as freshmen too. I think we did pretty awesome.  I also got my apple day t-shirt which I am totally wearing tomorrow and cookies and cool apple-themed drinks. Apple Eve isn't actually over yet, but I wasn't feeling so hot, so I walked back with Brittan. Now I am here talking to you all.

Oh and sadly there was no capture the flag and the dance was pretty lame. Although we did get glow sticks. That was a major plus.

I'm heading off to watch Once Upon a Time, do homework (maybe) and eat my apple.

Talk to you tomorrow after my super secret awesomeness.

Love,
Alora

Apple Eve

Hello all,
Here at Mary Baldwin College we have a few very special traditions and one of them is Apple Day.  Well that is tomorrow, so today is Apple Eve. We are having dodge ball games tonight between the classes and then we have a dance and tons of other fun stuff including glow in the dark capture the flag. I'm very excited and for a very good reason too, but you don't even know the half of it. 'Cause guess what? We have no school tomorrow and I am so excited. I still have to get up early for a super secret project which I will tell you all about tomorrow, but for now I have homework to do and a fun night ahead of me.

I have got to go.

Love,
Alora

P.S. I'm doing something related to apples tomorrow. Hehehe! I can not wait!
